Bangladesh protesters clash with police over Dhaka airport plans

Angry protesters in Bangladesh have clashed with police over a government plan to acquire their land for a new airport.

One policemen was killed and more than 50 people injured in the clashes between Bangladesh police and farmers demonstrating against government plans to build a new airport south of the capital Dhaka.
Police fired tear gas and rubber bullets at crowds while protestoers set fire to a police camp and police vehicle.
The project, which is set to cost up to seven billion dollars, has a controversial land requisition policy which has angered critics say Bangladesh three existing international airports are not operating at full capacity.
